  • Municipal School “HRAKLITOS”, Addition of a New 4-Storey Building

    Description: A new 5-storey building consisting of two structurally independent structures of a total area of 5,000 m2. Strip foundation is used. Design and construction scheme. Final & detail design.

  • National Gallery and Alexandros Soutzos Museum

    Client: MINISTRY OF CULTURE
    Budget: €64,000,000.00
    Total area: 27,000 m2
    Description: The two existing buildings of the Athens National Gallery were designed by Greek esteemed architects P. Milonas and D. Fatouros during the 60’s. This project’s scope of works was the expansion of the Gallery, through the renovation of existing buildings and the construction of a new, underground building in the site’s free space. Positioned in central Athens, the existing buildings have been recognised as modern monuments, and their aesthetics are considered of high importance for Greek architecture. Interesting structural elements are:

    • Performance Based Design for the strengthening of existing buildings
    • High underground water table, resulting in critical buoyancy loads
    • Structural glass floors and glass facades
    • Temporary earth retaining measures (pile sheet).

    Liontos & Associates conducted the complete structural design, from preliminary to tender documents and also participated in the construction stage documents.

  • National Technical University of Athens, New Marine Engineering Building

    Client: NATIONAL TECHNICAL UNIVERSITY OF ATHENS
    Budget: €5,000,000
    Description: Four new structurally independent RC buildings and one 3-storey steel building with a total area of 4,000 m2. From those, the three contain basement floor and 8 floor levels and the remaining one consists of  basement and ground floor of a total area of 4,000 m2. Final design

  • Natural gas refill bus station at Ano Liosia, Attiki

    Client: PUBLIC GAS CORPORATION S.A.
    Budget: €3,700,000
    Description: A new metallic hangar of a total area of 500m2. Six, secondary RC buildings with steel roofs of a total area of 800m2. Detail design.

  • Natural gas refill bus station at Anthousa, Attiki

    Client: PUBLIC GAS CORPORATION S.A.
    Budget: €5,500,000
    Description: A new steel hangar and additional installations. Detail design.

  • New 4storey offices building with two basements

    Client: ARXIKON S.A. (Construction company)
    Budget: €4,500,000
    Description: A 6-storey RC building with mezzanine floor, a shelter etc. of a total area of 4,000 m2. Raft foundation is used. Detail design.

  • New Acropolis Museum

    Client: MINISTRY OF CULTURE
    Budget: €130,000,000.00
    Total area: 22,000 m2
    Description: Based on the architectural concept of Bernard Tschumi, the building features many challenging structural elements, such as:

    • Seismic isolation, through FPS bearings
    • Concrete piles foundation
    • Post-tensioned slabs
    • Structural glass floors and facades

    One of the most impressive modern public buildings in Athens, the new Acropolis Museum, the most visited museum of the country, houses rare treasures from the Acropolis and other ancient Greek artifacts. Liontos & Associates conducted the construction stage structural design, complete structural detailing and participated in the testing and specialised finite elements analysis of the FPS bearings. 

  • New bioclimatic Prefecture building in Elefsina, east Attica

    Client: PREFECTURE OF WEST ATTICA
    Budget: €35,000,000
    Description: New, 3-storey (1 underground – 2 floors) bio-climatic building with a total area of 8.000 m2. It consists of reinforced concrete and structural steel. “Design – construction” scheme. Final Design.

  • New Building Units (Intensive Care, Surgery, Emergency) for the Hospital «AGIOS ANDREAS» in Patras

    Client: PUBLIC CONSTRUCTION CORPORATION FOR MEDICAL INSTITUTIONS
    Budget: €7,000,000
    Description: A new 4-storey RC building complex consisting from 4 structurally independent structures of a total area of 10,200 m2. Raft foundation is used. Detail design.

  • New Cemetery of Arta

    Client: MUNICIPALITY OF ARTA
    Budget: €4,000,000
    Description: A new Cathedral Church and several complex 1-storey buildings for the operational needs of the cemetery of a total area of 2,600m2 are designed. Furthermore, the design of 2 ponds of a total area of 200m2 was performed. The structural material used is reinforced concrete with wooden roofs. Detail design.

  • New City Hall of Koridalos

    Client: MUNICIPALITY OF KORIDALOS
    Budget: €5,000,000
    Description: Three new 4-storey buildings with a total area of 2,800 m2. It is a composite structure with basement floors made from reinforced concrete and over-ground floors made from structural steel.  “Design – construction” scheme. Final Design.

  • New City Hall of Larissa

    Client: MUNICIPALITY OF LARISSA
    Budget: €16,000,000
    Description: New, 12-storey (4 underground - 8 floors) bio-climatic building with a total area of 11.000 m2. It consists of reinforced concrete and structural steel. Bored piles walls are used for retaining. Preliminary, Final and detail design.

  • New Daycare Building for the Muncipality of Galatsi

    Client: MUNICIPALITY OF GALATSI
    Budget: €2,500,000
    Description: Two new 3-storey RC buildings of a total area of 1,800 m2. Strip foundation is used. Design and construction scheme. Final & detail design.

  • New General Hospital of Komotini

    Client: PUBLIC CONSTRUCTION CORPORATION FOR MEDICAL INSTITUTIONS
    Budget: €55,000,000
    Description: A new 4-storey complex building which consists of 22 structurally independent RC structures of a total area of 25,000 m2 with steel entrance roofs etc. Strip foundation, at different ground height levels is used. Detail design and auction of the project.

  • New Nursing Unit for the Hospital of Ioannina

    Client: MINISTRY OF HEALTH AND SOCIAL WELFARE

    Description: A new 6-storey RC building complex consisting from 4 structurally independent structures of a total area of 8,000 m2. Strip foundation is used. Detail design.

    Description: A complex structure, of many 5-storey RC buildings with a total area of 8,000 m2. Preliminary design.

  • New offices building in “Pefkakia”, Attica

    Budget: €5,000,000
    Description: A 6-storey RC building. “Berlin-wall” retained system is used. Raft foundation is used. Detail design.

  • New Olympic Airlines cargo terminal at the “Eleftherios Venizelos” Athens International Airport

    Client: OLYMPIC AIRLINES S.A.
    Budget: €75,000,000
    Description: A building with a RC basement floor and 2-floor levels made of steel of a total area of 14,000 m2. Final design.

  • New police headquarters building at the Olympic Village

    Budget: €2,730,000
    Description: A new, 4-storey RC building (1 basement floor– 3 floors) of a total area of 1.500m2.  Strip foundation is used. Detail Design.
